You can check it out after the jump: Hot off the presses, Red 5 Studios has officially announced the development of a new free-to-play online shooter called "Firefall". Due out in late 2011, the game will feature stylized visuals with a class-based combat system and deep character customization. The developers offered the following comments on the big news: "When I founded Red 5, I knew I wanted to do something different than anything I’d done before." says CEO and Chief Creative Officer Mark Kern, who led the development for World of Warcraft. "I wanted to take the best of what I learned making online games and bring that to skill-based shooters." Scott Youngblood, former lead designer behind groundbreaking multiplayer shooter Tribes, couldn’t agree more. "When Mark brought me on to help design Firefall, it was obvious to me that he was dedicated to building something different. With Firefall, I’m finally able to make the game of my dreams." Giving us a peek behind the scenes tonight, Day 1 Studios has released a new video developer diary for their upcoming FPS-Horror title, F.E.A.R. 3. Running just under two minutes long, this video talks about switching development from Monolith to Day 1 Studios. It's a pretty interesting watch. You can check it out after the jump: Spicing things up today, Criterion Games has released a new gameplay trailer for their highly anticipated racing title, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit . Clocking in at a minute and a half long, this video features an intense race on a desert track. Pretty sweet stuff! Dig the demo? Then keep an eye out for the full game when it hits stores on September 8th! Pigs are indeed flying today. 2K Games has just announced Duke Nukem Forever by Gearbox Software at PAX 2010. No firm release date yet, but 2011 is mentioned and the game is playable at PAX. If that holds, the game would be late only by a bit over decade - and I guess at that point year here or there won't matter any more. The game is based on the project that was left unfinished when 3D Realms folded and does use assets from that failed effort - it is a sequel to Duke Nukem 3D and will feature both single and multiplayer components. PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 are the platforms. Not sure if proper pictures or video will be available as it has been said that the build shown at PAX is still rough, but I guess we'll see later today. 2K Games also has a live stream covering the reveal, here - check it out, you could catch some shakycam footage of the game. Attention bargain shoppers! Steam has announced that they are offering a 75% discount on all Company of Heroes titles from now until Sunday, September 5th. You can purchase the games individually or as a Complete Pack for just $12.49 USD. It's a great series...so if you haven't played them before, here's your chance to grab them dirt-cheap! :D Grabbing out attention tonight, the fine folks over at Obsidian Entertainment have released a debut trailer for their upcoming Action-RPG, Dungeon Siege III.
