Kings of the Overclockers - a ViperJohn Interview

By: Aaron Barnes Sep 06, 2007

Wrapping it all up

ViperJohn's ViperVenom-V "Black Diablo"
Check out those fans on the power regulator components!

YouGamers: Are video card manufacturers/rebranders and GPU developers receptive to the work that you do modding video cards? Are they supportive in terms of offering information and providing resources?

VJ: Not too much any more. Those days are pretty well gone as are the old friends and contacts that have moved on to other (greener) pastures.

YouGamers: Do you feel that the results of your video card modding influence video card manufacturers with regards to product development? In other words, how much of what you do helps to build a better product for consumers in the future? Or is there no correlation at all?

VJ: I have no idea but I seriously doubt there has been any impact at all.

YouGamers: Any anecdotes you'd like to share about interacting with hardware companies over the years?

VJ: Not that I can share - LOL!!!

YouGamers: I'm sure that you get plenty of questions from eager first-time modders (I think a few of my emails have made their way to your inbox). Do you have any advice for folks getting started with hardware video card modding?

VJ: Do not bite off more than you can chew. The old days of just doing anything and getting away with it are very much long gone.

YouGamers would like to sincerely thank ViperJohn for taking part in this interview.
