GC 2007 - Day 1Blizzard - the "BlizzCon Rerun" press eventBlizzard also held a press event, but it was absolutely devoid of news. In fact, it was all just a condensed re-run of the BlizzCon presentations that every Starcraft II and World of Warcraft fanatic has already watched (probably several times).
The Blizzard booth is completely dedicated to demo stations of Starcraft II and Wrath of the Lich King. As is to be expected, the demos were very popular, and I decided to tackle the queues on another day.
Other bits and piecesOne of the day's highlights was Ubisoft's World Premiere of Far Cry 2 (more on that here). The showing was delayed by thirty minutes due to technical problems while Ubisoft's techs fiddled with their stuff. You can actually see the cause for delay in the small video clip of our news post, taken before the delay was announced - the picture on that video wall is cut off from the right and bottom edge (the "2" in Far Cry 2 is not visible at all, and bottom portion of the screen is missing). The devs made it up by showing a bit more than they were "supposed" to show - or so they said - and that would be the closing bit with the glider and the herd of animals. Rockstar had their gear set up close to the Blizzard's completely overrun booth, and had no such problems with overcrowding. While there was a big wall with Grand Theft Auto IV plastered all over it, the game itself was almost a no-show - we got to see just a looping trailer. Table Tennis on Wii was good fun, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for...
I also ran across System 3 promoting some Ferrari-related game. I kinda missed the name [It's Ferrari Challenge, and we pay you to look at the games -Ed], as my attention was once again distracted by silly marketing tricks. That's all for day one. Tune in for more tomorrow!
