Default Physx Question

Will 3d vantage stop running if I uninstall this? I have ATI (4870X2) which dont benefit from this with 3d vantage.

It will stop running without it - however, the standard installer for Vantage has a 'non-NVIDIA' version of PhysX, which should remain installed if one removes NVIDIA's package.

I only have one version under the uninstall manager, and if I uninstall I cant benchmark, i'll just leave it alone. Howevery the physx doesn't mess with any game performance right other than 3d vantage it remains off, correct?

3DMark Vantage does use PhysX even on ATI cards - to do the physics test on the CPU. PhysX is not NVIDIA specific unless it is running effects that are GPU PhysX specific.

Sad Re: Physx Question

hi guys
i have a XFX 5870 with a core i7 860 clocked at 3.64ghz on my system, and when i run Vantage everything else is fine except for CPU test 2: physics. i only got 40 or so points on this test, which means my CPU score is at 20000 or so. this is really low considering when i had my old Q9550 clocked at 3.83GHz with a GTX 260 i managed to get 44000 or so on the CPU section. As far as i can see this is all due to Physx.
