Default Hellgate: London

It should come as no surprise to anyone that the first title from Flagship Studios, Hellgate: London, borrows heavily from the gameplay of Diablo - after all, some of the team made that game too. But surely this is a very modern affair with DX10 graphics and subscription MMO elements? Hugely anticipated, the ruins of London await plenty of eager gamers but what exactly will they find?

My thoughts so far, you guys are spot on with the whole subscription thing... why would I want to pay for pretty much nothing right now. The promises of new classes, items, enemies, areas... great, but im not going to pay you to make them when I already bought your 50 dollar game and now you want 10 bucks a month for the promise of something more if you get around to it.

Other than that, I dunno, now that im getting a bit into the game its growing on me, the first few levels are a bit drab and the later ones arnt much better but at least its not so mind numbingly slow once you get a bit higher. I'm hoping that they patch the game one of these days and do something unexpected like add more variance to the generated levels. A few extra tilesets, or broken up into smaller chunks to make the levels more varied when generated would go leaps and bounds to make the killing more interesting and shake off that "wasnt I just here" feeling.

If they could add a new tileset every month then the subscription might sound tempting. Right now though... There is *nothing* to subscribe for.

Regardless, I am having a blast playing this game.
