SimCity Societies
SimCity is dead, long live SimCity Societies! Actually, that's not the case at all. SimCity is indeed dead but this one deserves no praise whatsoever. It's remarkable how anybody could make so many mistakes in a single game, but Societies has them all. Read on for the jaw-dropping truth.

Re: SimCity Societies
Ouch! Just.. ouch!
I was hoping for something at least playable, but I think we can officially hold the funeral for the SimCity series now.

Re: SimCity Societies
Some of the changes are not that bad. For the first time ever I can make the type of city I like. In older Sim city games I found UK style cities/towns next to impossible to do.
As for the money a large portion of Simcity fans didn’t care about money and just cheated got millions then built the city they wanted. The money change would suit those players a lot. Then again not having an option for the other type of players is bad.
It does appear to be a rushed game that should still be in beta. But being able to build more types of cities is good much better then the older games. I hope a few patch's can fix the problems. Going put off playing this for a few months.

Re: SimCity Societies
Agreed, there really isnt much of a game here, even on normal where you have to earn money your income will vastly pass what your capable of spending so there really is nothing to balance, just build stuff until you get bored, basically your first city will probably be your last if you can bother to even finish one.
Also the hardware requirements are just ridiculous, I had to run everything with medium/low mix and it was still a slide show with a built up city.

Re: SimCity Societies
I would argue that there isn't a game at all here, or at least, not in the sense that I would define one as, i.e. there are starting conditions, rules and a win/lose scenario. How does one actually win in this game? SCS is very much a toy...

Re: SimCity Societies
Last I heard, it wasn't...
And funnily the 'similar threads' function finds all other SimCity Societies threads except the other review thread in PC Gaming...

Re: SimCity Societies
I'm very disappointed IMO. I've always loved the Simcity games, but thanks to EA who have to ruin just about everything, I don't think i'll be buying any more Simcity games.
I loved games from studios such as Bullfrog, Westwood and even Maxis when they were in their stride making proper Simcity games, and it's disgusting to see one company mess it all up.

Lots of great games don’t have a win/lose scenario. Most MMORPG’s like Eve Online and many famous single player games like Elite have no win option. I dont see why a great game has to have a win option. As long as it has a goal you can aim for.
