Far cry, Doom(1993) , Deus Ex( should be number 1 ) is the only 3 games on my list that i own and should be the top 3. The rest is not my cup of tea.

I would include QUAKE3 (Quake saga) and Duke Nukem in FPS
Warcraft saga (I,II&III)
Civilization saga

And almost all games with saga, it does mind they are good.

I do like specially Prehistorik II & Lost Vikings as platform games, without forgetting
Komander Keen saga.

Chessmaster saga for chess lovers.

And many others, but the list would not be 10 must have.

Actually ther would be a lot of 10 FPS, RPG, etc ... MUST HAVE and
free / opensource must have for each category, for example OPENARENA for OS FPS

YEAH YEAH! they nailed it! hl2 #1 and hl2#3. all these games i still play (except for System Shock which i havn't heard of til now- goina check it out.)

The thing is those games don't even look that good, even for the year they came out. They're very straight forward looking. No art. I think Baldur's Gate, Quake 4, and Dark Messiah are better games personally. Morrowind was a little artistic too.

I think that Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion is a must-have game such as the COD and Soldier of fortune FPS series

My all time favorites are Battlezone and Battlezone II. Both have great back stories and action combining FPS with RTS. The graphics were great in their time too. Check these Activision titles out if you can find them.

Practically a top 10 of fps :/

Id rather play something like medieval TW II over everyone of those games listed.

Quake 3 over UT :P
