YouGamers Viva Piñata for Windows review
You wouldn't think that anyone would try to make a game out of pretty paper containers that release sweets when smacked to pieces, but those developers-with-the-Midas-touch Rare did just that. Originally for the Xbox 360, Climax Group (better known for their MotoGP titles) have handled the porting duties. There's no sticks, no sweets; just lots of cute piñatas!

damn, if this game only scored above 85+ I would have gotten it
the game seems interesting, is there a demo out by any chance?

Re: YouGamers Viva Piñata for Windows review
It's not horrible by any means - I'd call it a 85 game if everyone had widescreen monitors and xbox 360 pads.
But the port really doesn't take the PC platform into account properly, so I had to deduct from the overall score for that.

I tried it briefly the other day and I couldn't really see the point in the game, reminded me of SimCity Societies, it even has a crappy interface to match.

Way too cutesy/kiddie for my tastes. I bet my niece would love it but I'd have to learn it first to teach her how to play it and I don't really feel like doing that.

Re: YouGamers Viva Piñata for Windows review
The visual style is ripped from a popular U.S. Saturday morning cartoon (licensed, rather), but the game is easy to pick up and (I admit it!) very addictive.
I used it as a tool to get my girlfriend to pick up video games, and ended up playing it myself. Plan: backfired.

Actually, the cartoon was made based on the game. Rare is behind the cartoon as well...

Well, the "point" is to gather all pinatas, and get them to mate, and to raise your gardening level - unlocking new features etc.
So in that aspect it has a "game" tacked on - but like I said in the review, it's mostly bolted on, and the fundamental game is very much a sandbox toy.
