Age of Conan: First Impressions
Age of Conan tries to entice people with blood, decapitations, boobies and other "interesting" things worthy of a hard M-rating on the box. It's still early days, but is there any meat behind the flashy exterior? MMO launches have traditionally been troublesome, and Age of Conan has already got some questionable press over it's first days, but how does it play? Is the game any good? Read on...

Re: Age of Conan: First Impressions
Your review is extremely Biased. I believe you need to maintain a neutral viewpoint when performing reviews. I for one, would not want you working as a reviewer for me. As such, I am not a fan of Yougamers reviews.
This is not intended to be a personal attack. You simply appear to lack the skills necessary to provide a review without allowing your usually negative views to soak through and become apparent to the reader.
Besides that, I am glad you have a good job, but I would work on your angle.
Besides, Would you hire a vegetarian to review your meat products?
Answer is No.
I would not hire someone to write a game review who already has aired their biased views concerning the company which produced it.

A quote from the end of the preview;

a partial "thumbs up", with some reservations.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, but that was a positive preview. I didn't pull any punches to describe the already obvious flaws, but I still like the game.
I'm not a vegetarian, so I don't know about that - In my opinion a MMO should be reviewed by a veteran of MMOs. I have clocked thousands of hours of playtime in Ultima Online, Anarchy Online, Dark Age of Camelot, Everquest II, Earth and Beyond (remember that?), EVE Online, Auto Assault (RIP), City of Heroes, City of Villains, World of Warcraft, Tabula Rasa, Dungeons & Dragons Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Guild Wars (if you count that as a MMO, I don't) and probably a handful of others that I've forgotten. I may have become jaded of unfinished, buggy and unpolished games somewhere along the way, and if that's the problem, guilty as charged.
I say how things are, without sugar-coating them. Honesty seems to be in short supply in game journalism these days. Didn't know it was already being called "negativity".

Re: Age of Conan: First Impressions
Your reply is appreciated. I never have prided myself on the number of posts I have made, but consider myself more of a behind the scenes type of guy. I am here to help others and speak up about things when the fancy strikes me. 8+yrs and counting on these boards...
Jarnis, I want to take a moment to say, that your review is very well written. The concerns you have seem valid and the game itself is covered in great detail. I feel confident that the bugs, quirks and issues with the game which you mention are within reason.
Perhaps I was too hasty in my opinion of it being biased.
My apologies.
Now, do something about the offensive comments."codydewytard"

You deserved it, take it like a man and move on.
The preview is good imo. It presents the facts as they are and I detect little bias.
Besides, all reviewers have their personal opinion, which the score is the ultimate representation of, but from a well written review the readers can form their opinion themselves. As long as the game is described well, the score becomes somewhat irrelevant and the text itself takes the stage. And that's how it should be.

Re: Age of Conan: First Impressions
I didn't find the review at all negative. You listed the pros and cons about the game and thats exactly what i want to know. Great review, keep them coming.
