Civilization 4: Colonization

The original Colonization is one of the true classics of the DOS era. Always overshadowed by the original Civilization as simpler game and less ambitious in scope, it still provided just as addictive gameplay. Firaxis has finally dusted off the concept and now presents Civilization 4: Colonization. It's time for a revolution!

Used to play this on my old amiga 1200, enjoyed it back then but not anymore, got bored it very quicky and returned to BTS.

Thanks for one of the best game reviews I've ever read. I'm playing Civ IV: Colonization now and the points highlighted in the review were spot on. However, I think the closing criticism--that it is not a sequel--is completely out of line and unfair. Firaxis never claimed C4Col is a sequel and as far as I can remember the box didn't say it was either. I just checked the website and it certainly doesn't make that claim.

How many times have we heard the comment, "I'd be happy just to see Game X updated with a new graphics engine and nothing else?" Yet, now that we have an example of that in front of us, you're going to slam it for not offering anything new? That hardly seems fair. If it actually claimed to be Colonization II, then that would be another matter entirely. But it don't.

I'm really coming to respect Jarno as a reviewer. I don't think I've ever read a review of his which missed any important points like most of the other magazines/sites do. Even Nirvi ( the Finns know who it is ) often misses a lot of important points, his Conan review for example was absolutely abysmal.

I came here to comment on the same problem, but then realised the problem was probably browser related.

Sure enough - in Firefox 3.0.3 (at least) it appears as black letters, Explorer shows white letters.

The letter color problem is interesting. I haven't been able to duplicate it myself and it works for me on Firefox 3.0.3.

If anyone having this problem sees this, does this issue only happen in the Colonization -review or do you have the same problem in other YouGamers-content as well?

Sorry for the late reply, i don’t come to this site very often.

I just went to the latest reviews page with a list of games for review, and it showed black text with Firefox for the actually snippet text and white text with explorer. the titles and author names appear the same for both explorer and Firefox.

So, the problem is not just with the review in question. Just to confirm this, the review for Far cry 2 in Firefox was again in black text.
