Left 4 Dead
Valve has taken their sweet time with Left 4 Dead, a brand new zombie-themed shooter - and it shows. Originality, replayability, polish and perfectly paced action, it's all here. Left 4 Dead takes the campy zombie horror genre and turns the concept into the most original first person shooter of 2008.

Re: Left 4 Dead
Its GOTY for me. Can't think of anything better and I have played all the "big" titles.
I had to buy Dawn of the Dead (2004) on Blu-Ray after playing it and now can't wait for the Crossroads Mall mod to be released.
Was reading that they are splitting it and scripting it like the offical style. Can't wait!

Re: Left 4 Dead
I really don't get this game. I finished all the campaigns in less than 4 hours. Very repetitive too.

You are supposed to play it co-op. It's not really a single-player game. If it feels too easy, bump up the difficulty. I found Advanced to be good (while Expert is great if you play with proper friends who know how to play)
And Versus mode is loads of fun as well.
Edit: Tho if you played it on the Xbox 360, I guess I kinda understand you. It's so hectic that I wouldn't even want to try it on a gamepad.

Seconded if you play on advanced or expert. Normal mode is a walk in the park.

Normal = Training Wheels
Advanced = Real Playing
Expert = Mommy! Make the bad AI director stop hurting me!

Re: Left 4 Dead
Nice review, and I have to agree it is an instant classic. I haven't had this much fun gaming online with friends (or strangers for that matter) for a long time.
The world has been crying out for a quality co-op game for ages, and Valve have kindly delivered.
