Dead Rising on the PC?

Our little eyes spotted something odd while browsing the lists of upcoming PC games for the rest of the year: Dead Rising - for the PC. Surprising, considering that Capcom has made no such announcement.

Dead Rising - on the PC? Did I miss a press release somewhere?

In any case, Nordic distributor Pan Vision lists Dead Rising as scheduled for the PC, and subsequently many Nordic retailers now list the game in their catalogs and even quote a release date. CDON.com (Sweden) for example lists the game as coming out 28th September 2007, and the same is true for many other retailers in the region.

We contacted Pan Vision for a confirmation, and Pan Vision representative replied that while the release date had recently changed to 'unconfirmed', their sources at Capcom had indicated to them that the game is still scheduled to be released on the PC before the end of 2007. So far Capcom has not replied to our inquiries.

Frank West blasting zombies (and taking cool photos) on the PC? With the possibility of a better save system? Where do I sign up?!

If this game is released for PC it should be very very very great that it should be possible to MOD it.

Because with all that interaction with the objects and all that zombies in screen at once it should be possible to create a great survival horror mod!

Capcom release editing tools right now!!!!!

Hope it has a proper Save feature because so far the Save system has spoiled the game for me on the 360.

Some people liked the Save feature in DR and said that it added a competitive element to the game but not for me.

Sometimes I need to drop what I am doing and turn my Xbox off (for whatever reason) and I like to be able to save my progress there and then rather than spend 10 minutes running around fighting off zombies just because I want to save the game. I always thought these limited save games were for technical reasons due to memory constraints on the original PSX or Saturn, not a gameplay "feature" as such so there is no good reason why they should continue today.

If you ever got the third "Dinner's ready" or "the taxi is here" or "there's someone on the phone for you" shout while you were in the middle of Dead Rising you'll know what I mean.

I read a statement somewhere a few months ago. It stated that Dead Rising for the PC will feature multiplayer as well...

I saw that a while back after doing a search, when I had heard on the PC Gamer podcast that Capcom was undecided about Dead Rising coming to the PC.

It would make sense since DMC 4 is going multi-platform for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, heard or read this somewhere here recently. Dead Rising 2 is in the works and would surely be on the PC even if the first one is not if DMC 4 is going this route.

The original information was accurate at the time of the newsposting. After that some places have pulled the game off their lists. I think it's still highly questionable if it's really coming or not - but the distributor did get the idea from *somewhere*.

So, for now, a rumor with possibly some basis in reality, but no confirmation from Capcom.

oh ok thanks

I would like to think that Capcom not issuing the standard "not at this time" means something. I've looked, but it seems everyone reporting this says Capcom didn't return their calls. Of course, the lack of a response means nothing, but I can be hopeful.
