Tabula Rasa Arrives (plus Launch Trailer)

Just a quickie to remind everyone that Tabula Rasa officially launched today.

“Now the fun begins! I can’t wait to join thousands of other players in this exciting galactic war,” said Richard Garriott, the game’s executive producer. “It is time for us to release Tabula Rasa to the players. I am eager to see player reaction to the game, and am ready to build on what we’ve started here. We’ve got plans for new features and expansions for the foreseeable future and I’m hoping the players will enjoy the game and get excited about what’s in store for them next!”

Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa offers something a little different from most main stream MMOs, throwing in a bit of FPS action too. Then of course there's the much advertised cloning system that allows you to clone your character before you make key choices in your progression, this means you don't have to restart from scratch if you want to try another path. The game finally released today and you can grab any info you need over at http://www.playtr.com.

Both standard and Collector's editions are in the shops and include a months free play, or if you'd rather you can buy the game online from the PlayNC Store.

“We are all very excited about the addition of Tabula Rasa to our catalog of games,” stated Geoff Heath, CEO of NCsoft’s European operation. “One of NCsoft’s goals is to provide different types of online gaming products – both within the ‘proven’ fantasy genre and outside the genre, as well. This game is truly unique; we hope that Tabula Rasa’s science fiction background and military combat action proves to be enjoyable to many types of gamers.

I loved the beta - enjoyed it more than pretty much any other MMO I've played recently :D

I could not get into it. At all. I was in the beta, through the open beta, and the game could not grip me even once. I'm all for new ventures with MMO's and steering clear of the cliche elves, dwarves, etc... but this game didn't do it for me. It feels like a poor man's FPS with really poor MMO design...

I agree that Tabula Rasa is pretty weak - full ripping-to-teeny-shreds review will follow once I've spent enough time with it to confirm that all the crap that was there in beta a few weeks ago is still there and no magical launch day patch has arrived to fix everything.

(not that it ever happens)

Either way, I can already say that if you are considering buying it, research *carefully*... or wait a while :)

Zero Punctuation sums it up pretty well.
