Eidos says "There can only be one!"

As we all know it's better to burn out, rather than fade away - so to celebrate this rock 'n' roll attitude to life, Eidos have released a new trailer and some funky screenshots for their forthcoming title, Highlander.

HIGHLANDER comes to fans in a new medium that allows players to dive into the Immortal universe," said Peter Davis of Davis-Panzer Productions. "The interactive experience permits players to gain a completely different perspective of the mythos, and experience the powers and advantages of immortality through the eyes of a MacLeod."

Highlander is written by David Abramowitz (writer of the Highlander TV series) and uses the Unreal Engine 3 licensed from Epic Games, Inc. Developed by Widescreen in France, the game is set for release later this year on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Games for Windows.

Eidos are stating the following features for Highlander:

Features:

  • 4 distinct environments and 18 missions. Play in New York (near future), Pompeii before the eruption, the Highlands in the medieval ages and Japan during the Samurai era – rendered using Epic’s Unreal Engine for high quality graphics
  • 3 weapons to master - Katana, Claymore and Double Sword
  • 9 navigations features - Dagger climbing, Ropes, Dynamic ladders, Swan dive, Freefall, Traverse climbing, Cannonball, Beams, Ziplines
  • Quickening techniques - Resurrection, Chi balance (stamina), Weapon Mastery (Fireblade, Wind Fury, Stone Armour), Channelling the Source (charge up for powerful attacks)
  • 77 characters and a new main character – Owen Macleod. Familiar characters from series/movies (Methos)
