Eidos Gets Steamed

Eidos has announced a partnership with Valve Software to distribute games via their digital download service, Steam. The list of games expected to be available include many of the Hitman titles and the entire Tomb Raider and Commandos franchises. Eidos also plans to release some of their upcoming games (Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Championship Manager 2007 and others) on Steam, so be sure to keep an eye out for them as well! Anyways, here's a clipping from the press release:

"Eidos is delighted to add Steam to our extensive digital distribution network. Steam represents an opportunity to distribute our games electronically to millions of gamers around the world," said Tom Marx, Senior Business Development Manager: New Media at Eidos. "It also provides us a direct connection to these extremely active PC influencers who frequent Steam as a source for new content and information. As a result of being a spotlight feature on Steam this year, we expect to see sales of Tomb Raider: Anniversary benefit across all channels."

Some of the games should hit Steam today, including many of the Hitman titles, Battlestations: Midway, Just Cause, and the entire Commandos series. Pricing should be available on the official Steam website. Rock on!
