Wondering what kind of PC you'll need to run Funcom's upcoming fantasy-based MMORPG Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures? According to the newly launched Community FAQ, a halfway decent one should get the job done:

Required

  • OS: Windows Vista/XP
  • Processor: 3GHz Pentium IV
  • RAM: 1GB RAM
  • Video Card: Shader Model 2.0 and 128MB RAM: NVIDIA GeForce 5800 or ATI 9800

Recommended

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz (E6600) or better
  • Vdeo Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7950GX2 or better
  • RAM: 2GB or more

Enhanced for: DirectX 10, 64-bit processors, multi-core

Supports Parental Controls on Windows Vista

The new FAQ also offers details on crafted items vs loot drops, server sizes and a whole lot more. So be sure to check it out! ;)

Thanks for the heads-up Drew.

Note: the requirements have slightly changed since this item was originally posted. Check updated minimum and recommended requirements.

very nice hope to see benchmarks, lets see if its true.

Yeah I'd like to have some benchmarks also

Unregistered 2008-04-21 #8
2.8 single core and 5700 will not run it for ****

Unregistered 2008-04-21 #9
Well I was hoping for this, because it is pretty close to min requirements

Will this game run on a Mac computer?

High textures seems to need a shed load of ram, loading times are painful with 32bit OS, I'll try again later after I download Windows server 2008 evaluation from Microsoft tomorrow and see if having access to 4gb makes a big difference on loading times. But I think they'll optimise loading times somewhat.

It's fairly hard to measure the "real" performance yet, as devs have repeatedly said that the current builds include debug code, and that the resource caching code is not yet done.

However, if it goes live like this... massive pauses and lag, even on very high end systems (even on mine, Q9550, 9800GTX, 4GB, Vista 64-bit). Yet when it doesn't lag and/or cache stuff, it does run quite well - it's just the nagging jerky pauses and the general server-side lag - every response coming "late", making the game feel like you are playing in jell-o or something.

Looks like it is a shader cache bug, you can manually flush it which seems to help, but it's very much debug code. Once they go 'gold' they will be a improvement just from removing the debug mode.

Sure if you install Windows on it, and meet the rest of the hardware requirements...

OS X? Nothing has been announced for that...
