VirtualMark opens the World of Performance to everybody

Estimating your PC's 3D performance is quicker and easier than ever before with Futuremark's VirtualMark service. The web service takes just a minute to run in your browser, and gives you a ballpark figure of where your PC stands among the millions of entries in the ORB online database of benchmark results.

Running VirtualMark is easy. Just go to the Futuremark ORB site and click the Run VirtualMark button. The site will tell you that VirtualMark collects no personally identifiable information, and gives you instructions for running the ScanApplet that checks your PC's hardware configuration. After a moment, you'll be rewarded with the Result Analyzer page. Go check it out, or read on for detailed instructions!

Up until now, getting to see your system performance results on the Result Analyzer page required that you download, install and run the 3DMark06 benchmark software. While running the actual benchmark gives you the most accurate results, and tests your system's stability at the same time, the new VirtualMark is by far the best way to get a quick and no-hassle estimate of your system's performance.

So how does it work, exactly? VirtualMark's system scan performs a thorough assessment of your PC's hardware, and checks the ORB database for benchmark results from similar systems. Because the ORB database is huge, consisting of over 15 million benchmark results, chances are that someone has run 3DMark on an identical system to your own and submitted the result. The same principle is at work in the Game-o-Meter, another Futuremark service that allows you to check whether the latest games run on your system.

Load the applet and it does a "virtual" benchmark of your system...

...and you get a rough estimate how your system would score in 3Dmark06.

What's really new about VirtualMark is that it gives you immediate access to the ORB's powerful search and compare tools, even if you haven't run 3DMark. After getting your VirtualMark result in the Result Analyzer, just click the Search & Compare button in the top navigation bar. Here you can search for any hardware combination, a list of highest scores, or the most popular graphics cards and processors, to see matching benchmark results compared to your own system.

The mighty ORB - at your disposal.

Thanks to the incredibly active ORB community, the database has results from the latest and greatest hardware in PC enthusiasts' computers - sometimes even hardware that isn't on store shelves yet. If you're planning to upgrade your PC, VirtualMark is a great way to check what the performance benefits will be compared to your current system. VirtualMark is currently in open beta testing, so go ahead and check it out. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us provide an ever-improving service!

Note that registered ORB users with submitted scores can't see the VirtualMark link on the ORB's front page. If you are logged in, you are taken straight to your existing benchmark scores, so you will have to log out from ORB in order to access VirtualMark.

A sizeable difference from your 3DM06 score, but that simply means that your PC is outperforming similarly spec'ed systems, so...congrats
