Far Cry 2 Officially Delayed

Getting in on the action today, UbiSoft has announced that their upcoming first person shooter, FarCry 2, has been officially delayed and will now ship in the Fall. According to Producer LP Pharand, the game will be released simultaneously on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and will offer the same high quality features on each platform.

To soften the blow, UbiSoft Montreal has released some new in-game footage via their latest video developer blog:

Shocker....

Was this really such a surprise, it seems that every Ubisoft release these days ends up being delayed especially for the PC version.

eg Assassins Creed, Splinter Cell Conviction, Brothers in Arms Hells Highway to name but some.

Perhaps the game needs some serious tweaking for performance so it is actually playable on a mid to high end PC. If it is anything like Crysis, I would have reservations about buying it until I knew it would run fairly smooth on current hardware.

Erm.... If it runs on the 360 and ps3 my pc will murder it.

I find it funny people are blaming the PC version for the delay when this videos shows it in action, PS3 is the hardest platform to develop for.

If it means a better final product, then delays bother me not. I would rather play a polished than unpolished game

Same here.

I expect this with every game these days. Don't remember too many big name
games that haven't been delayed. I don't believe any release date till it's sitting
on the store shelf in front of me.
