E3: Microsoft Press Conference Notes
Just finished watching the Microsoft press conference at this year's E3 Media & Business Summit. Most of it we've already heard about, but some stuff will blow your socks off! Here's a quick rundown on what was shown:
Fallout 3 Live Demo (VIDEO courtesy of GameTrailers)
- Over 100 hours of gameplay.
- 1st person or 3rd person views.
- Enemies: I-bot, Sentry Bot (robotic tanks)
- Pipboy 3000, stats, skills, perks ect.
- Play stealthy, combat or use speech to pursued people.
- Realtime combat or V.A.T.S. system
- Find food, water ect to help you out.
- Weapons: Fat Man (mini nuke), Pulse Grenade EMP Blast, Hacking turrets, combat shotgun, laser rifle.
- Be good or bad. Align yourself with different factions.
- XBL and Games for Windows DLC Planned.

- 2 player Online Co-op with co-op based moves.
- March 13th worldwide release
Fable 2 (VIDEO courtesy of GameTrailers)
- Impressive opening cutscene.
- Little in-game bubbles which you can approach to invite friends to co-op over XBL.
- Family Interaction
- October 2008 Release
Gears of War 2 (New Trailer and Live Demo courtesy of GameTrailers)
- New monsters shown
- "Horde" 5 player co-op mode. Take on wave after wave of Locust.
- Ridable Brumaks!?
- November 7th Worldwide Release
XBOX Live and XBLA
- NBC and Universal Studios join XBL Marketplace.
- Avatars Revealed. Customize your own avatar and form a "Live Party" to play games, share photos ect.
- New 3D Dashboard coming this Fall. (VIDEO)
- Xbox Live Primetime announced. Basically a series of MMO gameshows over XBL. "1 vs 100" will be the first game released (this Fall), where you can win real prizes. (VIDEO)
- Uno Rush announced. Can use your Avatars in-game.
- Geometry Wars 2 Next Month (VIDEO)
- Galaga Legions Announced. Coming Next Month! (VIDEO)
- Portal: Still Alive XBLA this Fall with new levels and achievements. (VIDEO)
- South Park XBLA Game Announced (VIDEO)
- Community Games coming this Fall.
- Netflix Partnership Announced. Can watch movies with friends. (VIDEO)
- Grand Theft Auto 4 DLC coming later this year.
Rare
- New Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts trailer. (VIDEO)
- New Viva Pinata 2 trailer. (VIDEO)
Casual Games
- Scene It: Box Office Smash Announced. New Puzzles and Trivia. Avatar support. Downloadable questions planned.
- "You're In The Movies" coming this Holiday. Using your Xbox Live Vision Cam (included with game), you play a bunch of mini-games that are then cut into a short campy B-movies. Very amusing. lol
- Lips Announced. A Karaoke type game coming this Holiday. Use your own music. Plug your IPod into your 360 and play/sing along! (VIDEO)
Guitar Hero: World Tour
- Wireless drum kit with symbols.
- Touchslide guitar
- New Modes: Online band career and 8player Battle of the Bands.
- More then 85 songs at launch
- Music Studio lets you make and share your own music through GH Tunes.
- REM trackpack available featuring 3 songs from their new album before anyone else.
- The entire Metallica - Death Magnetic album will be available on GH3 in September and then on GH:WT when it launches in the Fall.
Rock Band 2 Details
- 84 songs on disc. All master recordings.
- Guns n' Roses - Chinese Democracy track "Shacklers Revenge" debuting in RB2.
- Bob Dylan's "Tangled Up In Blue" is another track named.
- ACDC's "Let There Be Rock" appearing exclusively in RB2.
- All DLC forward compatible with RB2.
- Export all your RB1 songs into RB2.
Square Enix
- Infinite Undiscovery hits stores on Sept 2nd in NA, 5th in EU and 11th in Japan and Asia. (VIDEO)
- Star Ocean 4 coming Spring 09 (VIDEO)
- The Last Remnant worldwide release on Nov 20th; Games For Windows version announced (no launch date) - (VIDEO)
- Final Fantasy XIII coming to XBOX 360! (VIDEO)
