If they can make it all actually playable with great controls, this looks like a winner - but I'm not yet completely sold...

Haven't heard about the controls yet?
Two button/trigger controls. There is an Up and a Down button er trigger for consoles. If you watch the videos you tend to the get the idea.
This game does not hold your hands (I think this is an Assassin's Creed reference possibly?) though as you will die from making the wrong move and you will die a lot. Once you get the hang of it though different story and feels quite natural.
Guns absolutely suck as they somewhat immobilize your player who cannot jump and you move slower with a gun. Hence why you always see the player character get a gun, fire a bullet, and throw it away. Its meant to be that way. Optional ways to get around completely without guns though as its not the focus in the game.
Gameplay is not that of an FPS just a view.
Multiple paths through levels based on risk/reward. Varying levels from completely vertical, to rooftops, sewers, subways, and so forth.
No, HUD whatsoever past a red dot in the center etc.
Sounds like it works brilliantly and is something fresh from the early hands-on previews. I was a little skeptical also but after hearing some of this it really makes want to see how this one turns out.
This is what was said on 1upYours most recent podcast.
Edit:
This was an early hands-on playing two levels. One sewer level mostly vertical I believe and a rooftop.

Watched them demo this @ E3 and it looks really good from what they've shown up till now. I'm really looking forward to this game because its something fresh to the genre with the feel of the first person presecptive. A First Person Platformer with really sweet visuals, smooth animations and hopefully a good story. Heck yes I cant wait, finally something different for a change
08/09 FTW
Gaming to me has seemed a little dry in the innovation department, but this title and along with some others make me think 08 and 09 are gonna rock for gaming.

Now don't get me wrong - I applaud the innovation, and cheer that someone actually publishes something that isn't a sequel, but every time someone tries something new and "unproven", I always tend to worry about the playability and controls.
And sorry, I do not put much weight in "previews" based on publisher-controlled demonstrations (hands on or not) - they always sugar-coat things and gloss over any issues as soon as publisher's rep whispers "yeah, we know, that will be fixed / that's not final".
Let's hope they get it right - the idea sounds good, and the previews sound promising.
