Hot off the press is the news that a new game development studio has opened in Finland. Packing in years of top flight gaming experience, along with new creative talent, Recoil Games Ltd will be a name that you will be talking a lot more about in the coming years. Why?

Firstly, they are headed by Samuli Syvähuoko - a co-founder and former managing director of Remedy Entertainment (Max Payne, Alan Wake) as well as helping to set up Futuremark (you don't need to ask who they are!) and Fathammer, a producer of quality 3D games for mobile phones. Alongside Samuli are a team of designers, programmers and artists who have a combined experience of over 60 years in the industry! Still not impressed? Well how about their backgrounds of working with Bugbear, CodeMasters, Electronic Arts, Guerrilla Games, Activision, Ubisoft, etc etc! All big names...

So what can we expect from them? They'll certainly be targeting all of the major platforms (and yes, that does mean PCs) but with games that have huge storylines to them, involving the feel, scope and list of cast equivalent to a full-on action or disaster movie! In short, you're likely to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster, making decisions that create conflict as well as cooperation.

If all this sounds like great news, then so it should be - the gaming industry needs creativity and fresh ideas to progress and mature the image that gaming has in the world.
