EA Confirms Spore Manual Misprint, Only One Account Per Copy

Clearing up a little confusion tonight, an EA rep has confirmed that you may only create one Spore account per copy of the game, despite the user manual stating otherwise. Apparently this is just a misprint that will be corrected in future copies of the manual, but it's still a huge issue for households with multiple gamers. With that in mind, the rep has promised to forward these concerns to the development team. Where it goes from there is anyone's guess.

It is expected that EA will make huge mistakes all the time, they're all a bunch of amatuers that delite in causing the consumer exreme mental anguish.

Amatuers? Hardly. When it comes to consumer anguish, EA are pros!

if you have it from the publisher in writing that it is more than 1 account per copy isn't that legally binding?

Update on this: Supposedly Spore will get an update later which allows you to have five "screen names" per account. You still always connect to the online service with that single account, but you can have five separate accounts with separate creatures & sporepedia pages etc.

Good fix for cases where a whole family wants to play the game - but this obviously should have been there on day 1...

It sure is.

Naah, they can always say it is an error in the manual. AFAIK it wasn't advertised like that...

But in any case, EA took a ton of flak over Spore DRM and account mess-ups. They just failed to deliver a customer-oriented product. Decisions were made without anyone of the "powers that be" thinking for one moment how the end-user experience feels like.

Seems EA still good at making people hate them

I printed the news article and took it back to Wal Mart and got store credit for Spore because it was "defective".

New advice,

EA. Pirate Everything.
