Yeah, indeed... No chance there. Would have been nice if they included the "should be air cooled" restriction and "no sli allowed". Now all the rich people will win the stuff.

Pardon me for noticing, but arent the entry requirements sort of...restrictive? I mean I could understand one or the other, either you need to have an asus mobo OR an asus video card. But both? Was excited there for a minute...

Wow... thats.... lame..

One or the other. No need to have both.

Its the sponsorship; i mean, it really is just an asus advertisement, so they limit it to their hardware.

One Asus motherboard here, but there is not a chance I will be anywhere near the front running in this, I dont want to risk breaking my parts for the sake of potentially getting new ones.

So this competition allows rich people to win stuff, sell it on eBay and then get even richer

RIP my 2 asus p4k-e wifi boards lol
the winner prob spend more on cooling then the value of the price lol

I do have to share your sentiment about not wanting to break parts, I myself am in no financial situation to buy a new q6600, 8800gtx or any other parts. And I also DO believe that now-a-days the only people who even desire to be in the contests and such are those that can afford multiple 600$+ video cards and cpu's that cost so much that its unrealistic to think that intel could actually market them. BUT overclocking and competitions ARE in the heart of madonion...so even if it IS restricted to only the rich and elite, it IS still a contest....I just wish they would have contests divided into sections( same with 3dMark,)

1.Non-extreme cpu's with single slot GPU's
2.extreme cpu's with single slot GPU's
3.extreme cpu's with multiple gpu's

etc etc, then have a handicap built in for the lesser hardware and find out who actually has the most GAIN from the overclocking regardless of the hardware.

Nice I should participate as it's a 20 minute drive away from my house

Where in the world IS it? Everytime I hunt for info it takes me to the same page without any real info on it??

Jarnis 2008-10-07 #14
"Where"?

It's online. You participate by submitting 3DMark Vantage (Any Version, Performance Preset) scores to ORB. The page that currently displays a countdown will show a realtime toplist when the competition starts. In order to qualify for that toplist, your system must have an ASUS component (motherboard or video card).

The competition will run for (I think) two weeks.
