Tomb Raider: Underworld System Requirements

Tomb Raider will be back soon - November 18th (US) / 21st (EU) - and the we got the system requirements. You can easily compare your system to these requirements using the Game-o-Meter. Oh, and don't forget to check out the demo, available now.

Tomb Raider: Underworld Minimum System Requirements

  • OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows XP / Microsoft Windows Vista
  • CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz+ or AMD Athlon 2.5 GHz+
  • RAM: 1GB (Windows XP) / 2GB (Windows Vista) system memory
  • GRAPHICS: NVIDIA GeForce 6 series 6800GT (or better) / ATI 1800XT (or better)
  • HARD DRIVE: 8 GB Free Space
  • INPUT DEVICES: Keyboard and mouse

Tomb Raider Underworld Recommended System Requirements

  • OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows XP / Microsoft Windows Vista
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or Athlon 64 X2 4400+
  • RAM: 2 GB system memory
  • GRAPHICS: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX or ATI HD 4800 series
  • HARD DRIVE: 8 GB Free Space
  • INPUT DEVICES: Microsoft Xbox360 Controller

I'll fancy a guess that mouse + keyboard will once again be a better way to steer Lara around, just like it was with Tomb Raider: Anniversary, so take that pad recommendation as related to the "Games for Windows" badge that requires any GFW-labeled game to support the pad.

Mouse + keyboard being better than a pad might be the most ludicrous statement of the year. It was definitely *not* better last time around and it is not better this time either. It's a console game, made for console controls and the mouse+keyboard add-on cannot be anything that a random afterthought for weird people. :)

Heretic!

Mouse + keyboard is better.

Burn the heretic!

I use a gamepad because I only have the use of one hand. I'll use any gamepad I want. The controller recommendation to me is just a matter of preference. I have a logitech that works just fine with TRL

I use a gamepad because I have the use of only my right hand. I have a logitech that works just fine. For all of the different control specs I would have to assign a few minor controls to the keyboard. For games like hitman where the control specs don't call for swift action I could compromise just using the mouse for major controls like fire, walk, and drop/throw/holster.

Mapping forward & backward movement to mouse is not possible.
I play all my games like that so that was not good.
For people like me, who really want to do this, here's the quick solution.
Unmap all mouse-buttons in the game.
Install this utility -> http://www.autohotkey.com/
Make a file with an editor with the content. (can vary according to your ingame keydefinitions)
RButton::Z #(forward in the game)
MButton::S #(backward in the game)
LButton::& #(shoot/yield weapon)
Save as TRUW.akh (as long as it ends on akh)

double-click TRUW.akh (starts autohotkey with that script)

Just finished the game and played great.

PS: since your mouse won't work anymore with left-click in Win you have to use your keyboard. (CTRL-Alt-DEL to call task-manger and kill Autohotkey.exe manually.)
There is probably a way to assign the key's for only this game, but I was to lazy to investigate further. Read the manual from Autohotkey for more info.
