First Guild Clears All Lich King Content

While us mere mortals are happy to just have finished leveling our first character to level 80 while sleeping only a few hours for the past three days, the hardcore is once again on whole another level. Two of the top World of Warcraft guilds, Nihilum and SK-Gaming recently merged under the label "TwentyFifthNovember" and they have pulled off quite a feat. In 65 hours and 30 minutes they...

  • Got full 25-man raid worth of characters to level 80 (a very impressive feat on its own)
  • Cleared 25-man Naxxramas, all four side wings and Frostwyrm wing, including Kel'thuzad in 4.5 hours
  • Cleared 25-man Obsidian Sanctum and killed Sartharion
  • Cleared 25-man Eye of Eternity and killed Malygos

Wrath of the Lich King (what's available so far) cleared in less than 72 hours after launch! Partly a testament to the stability of the servers after launch (they have worked almost flawlessly), partly to the uncompromising attitude of Kungen and his team. They just... I'm speechless. I know that it's quite possible, if hard, to hit level 80 in less than three days (done that myself), but to actually have a full raid ready in that time and then manage to clear all the raid content straight through without any breaks after such a non-stop leveling rush is just something that's hard to comprehend.

Even if you consider that two of those three raids are just a single boss encounter (similar to Magtheridon), it's still a mind-boggling feat. It also means that you can beat all the current content without spending one moment gearing up your characters after hitting 80 - a marked disappointment for end game raid guilds. Granted, Blizzard still has at least two, probably three major raid instances scheduled to be added to WOTLK over the course of the next year or so. Let's hope they offer some actual challenge.

TwentyFifthNovember states;

We are proud to declare that all WOTLK PVE raid content has now been cleared. This is both a moment of triumph and a cause for concern. The question in all our minds right now is if we could do this, how soon until the rest of the top guilds in the world clear all the raid content that WOTLK has to offer? Did Blizzard miscalculate in the tuning of these encounters? Or is this Blizzard folding under the weight of a large casual player base that demands to be on equal footing with end-game raiders?

Malygos down...

Those of us who played during the beta tried to tell Blizzard that the content was too easy for the high end raiders. Now I guess TwentyFifthNovember kinda proved that point. Personally I'm prepping up for first raids myself and based on this feat, expect our guild to be in the same situation with all Wrath of the Lich King raid content cleared in less than two weeks.

from a leveling point of view i have done all the `normal` instances before i hit lvl 74 , being T6/sunwell geared i knew i had the equipment - but even i was gob smacked

Azjol-Nerub completed in 11 minutes.

so im kinda guessing its a sign of things to come - as you said , all raids will be done within 2 weeks (maybe 3 to be safe) then what? blizz won`t release a content patch this year so it`ll be back to faction grinding and making money.

again.

Considering that your gear was better than the average player will have acces to until level 78-80 I think that's to be expected really...

I am surprised that Wotlk doesn't include a next tier of raiding out of the box, but really, the people that have cleared these raids all knew the fights from the beta and had gear that is equivalent to what players should be starting the raids with. Also let's not forget that these are THE absolute hardcore.

i do think that kungen`s comments are a bit silly - they have what 100 in that guild? blizz have to cater to the other 10 million as well , and tbh its the `casual` players who pay the bills so they need to tailor the game , great 25thnovember have completed it allready , the other 10.9 million haven`t and are likely seeing the content , the wrath gate quest has to be seen , it really is awesome.

...the sad thing here is that none of those people have a life. What did they get for doing that? Did they get money? Free game? Free months? And now what is left? I just feel sorry for people that just take all the free time that they have and do what with it? I do play WOW and I did get the expansion but I only have one 71 and I like taking my time on the game and do not feel like I have to play every second of the day....just sad..... thats all

Well trying to achieve something within your hobby isn't exactly sad, and could be projected onto all kinds of things you do in your free time. Think of overclocking - why waste all the time and effort onto getting that extra tiny bit of performance? Does it pay the bills? Do you get free hardware?

It's all a matter of trying to be the best at what you do in your free-time, nothing wrong with that up until the point when the cost of doing so becomes apparent in other areas of your life - and who are we to know if that's the case for them?

That just isn't free time to do that much work that is playing non stop for 3 days....thats not a hobby that is an obsession. What all did they ignore while doing this? Their family, job, hygiene?

We know about the former two, but how do you know they ignored hygiene? I am sure they could fit in 15 mins a day for a shower and another 2x5 for brushing their teeth, eh?

Also, have you never ignored job / family for something you wanted to do in your free time? Like take a few days off and go abroad for fun, go skiing, anything like that? I sure as hell did quite often even.

Unless you follow the encrusted social code that video games < "real" hobbies I do not see what the problem is really, and if that's the case what on earth are you doing on a gaming/overclocking site?

(Also, few years ago when I was crazy enough to do it and didn't fall asleep after staying awake for over 24 hours, I used to have LAN parties with my friends that lasted 2-3 days every month or so - is that just as bad?)

What does me being a member of a gaming/ocing site have anything to do with anything? I game yes but I don't wastes 3 days of my life for one game in one sitting. I have other hobbies....several of which include my family ( just my wife ) and my friends, real life friends, yeah I still goto lan parties and have fun but that is one day out of a month maybe at the most.... Even when I am at the lan party my wife is there with my friends wives and we dont just game all night we watch movies and basically hang out. I also go shooting another big hobby of mine is guns. My wife is in that also along with most of my family. Its just amazing they paid 40 bucks or even 70 or higher for the collectors edition to beat the main part of the game in 3 days....just a little waste thats all.... anywho last thought from me Im out
