Rise of the Argonauts System Requirements Revealed

Codemasters supplied us today with the minimum and recommended system requirements for the PC version of action-RPG Rise of the Argonauts, due to be released this week in the EU and next week in the US.

RISE OF THE ARGONAUTS - PC MINIMUM SPECS

Minimum:

  • CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz / AMD Athlon XP 2400+
  • RAM: 1 GB (Windows XP) / 1.5 GB (Windows Vista)
  • Video Card: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 128 MB RAM and shader model 3 support (NVIDIA GeForce 6 series or better / ATI Radeon X1300 or better)
  • Sound Card: 100% Direct X 9.0c compliant sound card
  • HDD space: 8 GB

Recommended:

  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo / AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
  • RAM: 2 GB
  • Video Card: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512 MB RAM and shader model 3 support (NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT / ATI Radeon X1900)

Looks like fairly standard requirements for a multi-platform game to me. You can check if your system meets the specs by using our Game-o-Meter tool.

UPDATE - it looks like our source at Codemasters PR was misinformed. The actual box has somewhat different requirements printed on it - check out our news story on the updated requirements.

All current cards widely available on the market support shader 4.0. Methinks you have a tad old system if it doesn't support SM3.0. That would mean like Radeon 9800 or X800 series or GeForce FX5x00... stuff from like four or five years ago.

yah, 4 years! such a long long time for a graphics board hmm? i wonder what kind of super evolved graphics processor they had back then to power up xbox 360?

the only reason why xbox 360, which has a fairly tipical pc architecture can run recente games flawlessly is not the hardware, but the games coding!

but who bothers optimizing source codes for pc games anyway??!!
(sarcasm!)

ATI Xenos supports SM 3.0, and the X-Box 360 is Tri-Core also. Little more advanced than most computers in 2005.

XBox 360 has, effectively, a Radeon X1900 inside it. I know it's not exactly the same chip (for one thing, it has some RAM actually onboard on the chip) but the features are pretty close. That's SM3.0 chip.
