Konami Drops Six Days in Fallujah

Grabbing out attention this afternoon, a Konami representative has informed Asahi.com that they've decided to drop Atomic Games' controversial Iraq war-based military shooter "Six Days in Fallujah" due to an overwhelming amount of negative feedback since its announcement a few weeks ago. Here's the official statement:

"After seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it," a public relations official of Konami said. "We had intended to convey the reality of the battles to players so that they could feel what it was like to be there."

No word if Atomic Games will be able to shop the title to another publisher. We'll be sure to keep you posted!

Thanks for the tip Jeff.

why are so many people stupid, over-sensitive pricks? if you don't like the game, don't ****ing buy it. it's a **** thing to ruin the fun for people who were actually looking forward to this game.

thanks for ruining the dream of a great game, jackasses.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i wish they just rename it and release it.

not being insensitive but alot of the soliders who fought there actually cooperated with providing information to the making of the game. i don't see it being any different from the movie 'black hawk down'.

why movie ok and games not?

This is lame,I was gonna check it out also, its a double standard. How was black hawk down fly past. And this didnt. They need to rename it and tell those other people to bug off.

How is "Six Days in Fallujah" worse or more offensive than Far Cry 2 where you play a guy/gal playing sides between war lords and arms smugglers in a war torn, poverty infested, disease ridden African nation? I mean it's not like you're even a US soldier in FC2...you're more a less a mercenary running errands for war lords and making the problem worse just to get blood diamonds to buy bigger guns with in hopes of killing one arms dealer. When in all actuality, you're wreaking as much havoc as the "evil" gun runner you set out to kill.

It's not called "African Mercenary: Kill Time".
