Dawn of War II 'The Last Stand' DLC Released

Moving right along, Relic Entertainment has announced that they've released a new DLC pack for their hit Strategy title, Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II. Entitled "The Last Stand", this free update offers various bug fixes and gameplay tweaks, along with two new maps and a new cooperative survival mode, where you and two of your friends must hold off wave after wave of attackers for as long as you can. You can check out the full changelog right here or just relaunch your Steam client to start downloading!

To celebrate the DLC's release, Steam is offering a 50% discount on Dawn of War II. So don't miss out!

this game should have never been released when it was -- it's still not a great game. The controls are very unintuitive and the game play and latency issues still cause problems.

Still a disappointment. There should be larger maps and longer games ... not just all skirmish based because the Warhammer genre is all about EPIC battles between hundreds of forces... not squad shoot outs hiding behind crates.

I had no problem with the controls, or latency having played through the entire campaign in co-op. The Warhammer genre doesn't have to be shoe-horned into battles of any specific scale. Tight little melees or sprawling tank battles, either is acceptable.

Yeah the latency issues are simply horrible. No other game has this kind of problem. it takes teh game atleast a second to register an action. While this would usually be the host's fault, it has become the game makers fault. They put their servers in such idiotic locations that nobody has ping under 300. This game is terrible in multiplayer, the last stand is fun for 5 minutes and the computer AI is so bad that my 1 year old niece could beat them. I beat 3 computers in the hardest difficulty in under 45 minutes of play. Its simply rediculous.

Tried running your own server? I've been playing Last Stand with a friend by running the server on my own machine and the ping between us is typically 60-70ms, which is about what I'd expect for our respective connections. Unfortunately the 3rd player that gets auto-added to our games tends to be a bit further away and has a higher ping. This isn't so much a server issue though, as a matchmaking issue. Why can't we just play Last Stand with only 2 players?

What do you mean "beat them"? The difficulty in Last Stand ramps up with each successive wave. You probably could beat the first couple by doing literally nothing, just letting the AI come to you and let your characters AI sort it out since they'll auto-fire in defence.
