I've never used steam, is steam a free download that I can use to get this demo?

Yeah, been playing it for the last week, it's pretty good. The Jokey always makes me laugh, and I like the characters.

There are still way too many idiot playing it on expert with no clue what they're doing... maybe they're good at COD4 or something and think this is the same... but anyhow.

The spitter does a LOT of damage - watch out, I can't wait to play Versus mode, much better undead options.

Yes. www.steampowered.com - there is a link "get steam". Install steam, then look up the demo from the Steam client and download.

Direct link for the Steam installer: here

I am d-loading the demo now. The one person I converse with a lot that has played it so, said they hate it. Can't understand why a guitar is more powerful than a shotgun, how it is able to cut heads off, why there are no pistols and melee weapons instead, a few other gripes. I guess she already unistalled the demo.

I shall try it and find out. I decided when they announced it that I wasn't buying it right away though. I might grab it on the 1/2 off weekend that Steam will have in about a month, like I did with l4d1.

Wooo its a blast, pure carnage at points, cant wait for the full game :)

Well that was fun. Immediately popped in a cooperative game online and we blasted our way through the end. Took a few tries though with the increased difficulty but loads of fun, love the variety in weapons.

The demo came out Friday because of Halloween. Also if you pre-order it from steam and gamestop you will get a baseball bat. Also get a Hat for TF2. The hat that L4D1 bill use.

Those of you who pre-ordered Left 4 Dead 2 (for PC on Steam or at participating retailers) now have exclusive access to the momentous event they said would never happen. For the first time in history, two separate Valve universes collide. That's right: it's a Left 4 Dead/Team Fortress crossover! This is not fan fiction! This is not a dream sequence! The characters from Team Fortress 2 will team-up with Bill's hat from Left 4 Dead 1!

And lest you think this is just some marketing gimmick, here's the intricate back-story justifying it: while conducting a science experiment on parallel dimensions, Bill's hat fell off a table into the Team Fortress universe.

Is Bill's hat the tenth class? All will be revealed in time, but don't hold your breath. Will you get to wear Bill's hat right now, in TF2? Go ahead and hold your breath—now exhale like a champ, because you're a winner and it's happening.

Even if you haven't pre-ordered yet, it's not too late to get in on this unprecedented hat-wearing, history-making crossover event! Pre-order Left 4 Dead 2 now, and the hat is yours. (Also the game at 10% off.)

My quick assessment after a SP run through of the first mission:

Its nothing really special compared to the first one, just new toons and maps, I can kill with a frying pan, wheeeeeeeee. Graphics look nicer, this should have been a 9.99 DLC, not a 50.00 new game. No way am I paying full price for it. Its the same as 1, with some new content.

it would have been nice to get more free content for the first one, but the fact of the matter is that it was so good there is no reason to change most of it. I will most likely wait for the first big sale and jump on it. I just have to convince the rest of my retarded friends not to spend 50 bucks on it
