Looking to promote the upcoming Team Fortress 2 'War' Update, Valve Software has announced that they'll be holding a free weekend event starting on Thursday, December 17th. So if you don't already own this awesome title and are interested in checking out the new content, just fire-up your Steam client and hit "pre-load" on this page.
On a related note, Valve has revealed a new weapon for the Solider class called "The Direct Hit", a high precision rocket launcher that has a 70% smaller blast radius, but fires 80% faster and deals 25% more damage.
