Gears of War PC - Vista Only?

The PC version of Gears of War is definitely going to be announced at the E3 2007 this week - a leaked video (that got quickly pulled) confirms as much. What's interesting is the fact that it's apparently going to be a Games for Windows Live Title.

While the original high quality video vanished very quickly, someone managed to save it and post it to YouTube. The image quality of this YouTube version of the leaked footage is poor, but it does show one remarkable bit:

Yep, that's a Games for Windows Live achievement pop-up. No word yet if this also means that there will be cross-platform multiplayer support - my own feeling is that it probably doesn't, but Epic and Microsoft might yet surprise us. However, it does indicate a couple of things:

The footage is definitely from a PC version.
You will need a GFW Live account to play online (no word yet what the limitations for Silver accounts will be)
Gears of War will most likely be a Vista-only title.

So far every GFW Live title has been a Vista exclusive, supposedly because GFW Live "only works on Vista". So it looks almost certain that Microsoft is going to keep on pushing Vista with Gears of War as well and the XP gamers will have to wait and see if hackers can come up with a "fix" for this one, similar to the "fixes" produced for Shadowrun and Halo 2.
