Our duo of roving reporters have made a successful touchdown in Leipzig, Germany - the site of the Leipzig Games Convention 2007. GC 2007 is set to out-E3 the E3 as the largest western show on computer and video gaming, second only to the mighty Tokyo Game Show.

As the site is a small German city instead of E3's Los Angeles, and the event is actually open to general public, there is bound to be less booth babes and noise, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing - and don't worry, we'll stay vigilant with cameras ready for anything that could be constituted as a booth babe - just in case.

The main Games Convention event kicks off on Wednesday 22.8. with a "Trade Only" day, with general public let in to rampage through the massive exhibition halls from Thursday onwards. We arrived early - both because flights to Leipzig any closer to the start date proved to be impossible to obtain (we tried), and because there is an event already in progress. GC is preceded by GCDC - the Games Convention Developers Conference, running from Monday 20.8. until Wendesday 22.8. The complete presentation schedule can be seen here (GCDC site). With Monday already gone, and four presentations going on simultaneously for the next two days, some hard choices are inevitable, but we'll do our best to catch the most interesting bits of GCDC and bring it all to you, right here on YouGamers.

Yep, it looks like there is a games convention in town. And no, we don't plan on missing the Warhammer Online booth.

And yes boss, those pictures are solid proof that I saved money by taking the train from the airport instead of a taxi. So there! :) (Oops. I didn't take the train! - Money-wasting Ed)
