Summary and Scoring Galactic Assault gets its name and setting from a Soviet SciFi book by Arkady and Boris Strugastsky. As a game, it's firmly related to M.A.N. 2. Both are developed by Wargaming.net, both are turn-based strategy games using the same engine, and due to that they share more than a passing resemblance to each other. Now I'm willing to admit upfront that I have never played M.A.N. 2, but it appears that Galactic Assault is basically a single player oriented version, with a new setting, new campaign, and new units all developed on top of the same game engine.

Turn based games, such as Galactic Assault are far too rare on the PC these days. I personally have recently used Advance Wars: Dual Strike on the Nintendo DS for my turn based strategy fix, and in many ways Galactic Assault (and M.A.N. 2) remind me a bit of Advance Wars - both are turn-based, both have a mix of unit types you have to combine and position correctly and both use pre-set units with the ability to recruit some extra troops during combat. But while there are similarities, there are also plenty of differences.
