Valve has made another game. Portal. It's great. Go buy The Orange Box, and go play it. Please do so now. Hurry. You won't be sorry. Not instantly convinced? Okay, I'll try to explain in more detail while trying to avoid spoiling the fun. Portal is a hybrid first person action/puzzle game. It happily mixes the usual first person shooter controls and Valve's familiar Source engine with a highly original concept, using them to present an offbeat problem-solving game. There are times where you need to think, and times where you need to act. Fast. The game opens up with the main character, Chell, awakening from a "Relaxation Vault", situated in the Aperture Science "Enrichment Center", with a friendly metallic voice instructing you how to proceed. It would appear that Chell is a test subject in an experiment involving Portals. Once you get your bearings, you are expecte 200b d to solve increasingly challenging puzzles in a controlled environment. But you are not a lab rat, so the inevitable questions come to mind. Questions, such as "What's the purpose of these tests?", "Who is controlling it all?" and "What's with the cake?".
