Sega Rally (Revo) is a solid return to mindless-yet-exhilarating arcade-style rally racing. Die-hard fans of GTR, Gran Turismo, Forza and other authentic racing simulations may turn their nose up at the shallow gameplay and lack of customization, but they'd be missing out. Graphically, it lacks the prowess of DiRT, but to its credit the game lacks the too-slippery handling of DiRT as well. There's nothing pretentious about Sega Rally; the game revels in its simplicity, and builds on the series solid legacy with the addition of an innovative deformable terrain system. The only downside is that the dearth of content offers only a few hours of gameplay through a single-player championship mode, and the iffy multiplayer offers no incentive to return. But when it comes to pick-up-and-play racing in short bursts, Sega Rally (Revo) is an ideal fix.
The locals bundle up for some winter rally spectating.
Crossing the railroad tracks just in time, on each lap - how fortuitous!

Gameplay
75
A true-to-heart arcade racer. Exaggerated drifting in corners and plenty of fast-paced, full-contact racing. Multiplayer is a bust, and the single-player experience is short. Aside from a few pick-up sessions, not much replay value.
Graphics
80
Not noteworthy for their technical prowess, but the visuals are competent and the themed locations are well-designed. A few performance issues mar an otherwise smooth graphics engine. Mud and dirt effects are a nice touch.
Audio
62
Does the job, and not much more. Arcade-style music combines with pronounced sound effects to give an over-the-top feel to the audio. Crashes and collisions are understated.
Technology
75
More graphics options than the typical console port, which allows for performance tweaking. A bit rough around the edges on the PC controller-wise, but the deformable track technology is notable. No form of damage modeling.
OVERALL
78
Arcade-style racing once again makes its way to the PC, and Sega Rally (Revo) delivers an exciting if short-lived rally experience. Authentic? No way. Fun? You bet. A car racing version of randomly-generated dungeons, the real-time track deformation adds a layer of freshness to each lap of racing. The racing is balanced and never dull, and the only downside is that the fun is over far too soon.
