Before the launch of the Xbox 360, Microsoft bought gaming wizards Rare in their frenzy to fill the new line-up with triple-A titles. Rare had exclusively developed on the Nintendo platforms until then, and went off to create a truly innovative title involving piñatas - those stuffed animals kids whack to bits in parties to liberate the candy hidden inside. 21a4 You see, all those piñatas actually come from Piñata Island, where they are raised by gardeners - hoping that one day they would be chosen to entertain kids in parties. Or so the backstory goes...

Trailer (Xbox 360)

The concept of Viva Piñata is fairly odd - you are given a task of building and maintaining a garden for the piñatas - enticing them to move in and making sure they are happy and "romance", producing more piñatas. Building up the garden costs chocolate coins, and the most obvious way to obtain more is by selling rare piñatas you have managed to grow.

Simple but surprisingly effective.

Viva Piñata - Filled with Fun!

Gardens start out simple, but there are tons of things you can add to them.
