You quest and fight, naturally! You make your way through the various sections increasing your experience by fighting Titans or completing side tasks, given by talking to the locals, which can include finding some lost jewellery or a lost friend. To assist you in combat, you can collect items to add to your inventory, which are either bought from stalls in the market or by picking up the items from an enemy after you have defeated him. These include health potions, energy potions (for skills) and even stealing their garments and weapons for extra protection against any attacks. The Inventory is pretty restricted on what you can hold, to try and be realistic – although I dare not ask where he hides the other items! Looking at the inventory screen, the top part with your character is the current items you have equipped and are using, also showing how much money you have to spend at the stalls. There is a little I or II above the weapons that allows you to assign a secondary weapon, which you can change with a simple key assignment – great if you want to change between close or long range fights. Below this, you can see a grid where the rest of your inventory for storage is. While this doesn’t look that bad below, after a few attacks it easily fills up so you have to keep an eye on your storage management! Other than just collecting equipment for your character for battles, you wouldn't be a hero without skills and magic powers, now would you? This is where the Mastery system comes in and the uniqueness of each players character comes in. The first time you increase your level, you then have the option of selecting one of the eight Mastery trees (Storm, Earth, Warfare, Spirit, Defence, Nature, Hunting and Rogue). You are restricted to only choosing one Mastery system, but after level 8 you can select a secondary Mastery tree to add to your current powers. Each different mastery increases on the amount of experience you receive and you level up and has its own unique way to help you through your quest. The Spirit option shown below allows you to drain the enemies power and use as your own while in combat. It's pretty hard to get lost in Titan Quest, as your travels are pretty linear and take you down the right route most of the time. If you do find yourself at a dead end though and cannot find your way, the map system is very intuitive. Just click up the map and you can see what is close by - treasure, items, NPCs, etc. The world before your journey though is covered by the ubiquitous "fog-of-war".
