Batman is back - The Joker is loose and has taken over Arkham Asylum with a plot to destroy Batman and overrun Gotham City with mutated creatures. It is up to the greatest detective ever to escape Joker's trap, figure out Joker's plan and round up all the villains. In other words, just another day for Batman. So... Batman: Arkham Asylum - Yet Another Crappy Licensed Game or something special?

Back in the days when 3D was primitive and polygons were something no gaming system could really shift around, 2D platformers were all the rage. These days you see them usually as remakes of old arcade classics or as re-releases on the Wii Virtual Console. Not any more. Trine takes the old concept, tosses in some PhysX-based physics, illustrates everything with brilliant art and shows how good a mere "2D-platformer" can be.

New MMOs keep rolling out of the production lines and even those developers with a MMO or two under their belt can easily fail on their attempts to crack the market as both Funcom and Mythic demonstrated with Age of Conan and Warhammer Online. A good MMO is a complex mix of features and content that takes massive development resources to polish to perfection. Born in the arcades, Japanese-style 2D fighting games have been seen mostly on the consoles. Capcom continues to embrace the fully multiplatform strategy with a PC version of Street Fighter IV. With the arcade machine being nothing but a moderately specced PC, Street Fighter IV is the ultimate "arcade port", going way beyond the arcade original while adding in all the extra features of the console versions along the way. Excellent!

Lucasarts surprised pretty much everyone at the E3 this year with the announcement of two Monkey Island games, one of them being brand new adventure developed by Telltale Games.
