Big changes are coming for World of Warcraft. With the Lich King expansion coming in bit over a month, everything is changing once again. But wait, even before the expansion arrives on November 13th, there are changes in the menu. Patch 3.0.2 - Echoes of Doom - is scheduled to arrive next week, bringing many of the expansion features early. Azeroth will never be the same again. As mentioned earlier today, Blizzard Entertainment's highly anticipated Action-RPG Diablo 3 will feature a new playable class: The Wizard. For those of us who couldn't attend this year's BlizzCon, the official reveal trailer is now available for download. Check it out after the jump: Keeping busy tonight, the guys over at Electronic Arts have released a new patch (#1) for the European edition of FIFA 09. No word on what this 2.5MB update fixes, but apparently it's required for online play. So be sure to grab it from any of the following mirrors:
Just in time for the weekend! ;) Dropping a bombshell tonight, Blizzard Entertainment has announced that StarCraft 2's singleplayer campaign will be split up into three separate products, one for each of the game's factions. The first product out the door will feature the Terran campaign, titled "Terrans: Wings of Liberty". At some point after that (no dates are given), they'll launch "Zerg: Heart of the Swarm", followed by "Protoss: Legacy of the Void". According to ShackNews' on-the-scene report, the second and third titles will act as stand-alone expansions with "enough content to justify a full release". No word if these will be fully priced products or not. We'll keep you posted! Hitting the web today is a new patch (#1) for Paradox Interactive's recently released space combat sim, Dark Horizon. The 1MB update addresses a "font not found" error and an unnamed issue in mission 19. You can grab this bad boy from any of the following mirrors:

Once you receive your key, you'll be ready to rock! ;) BlizzCon 2008 has kicked off in Anaheim, California. The big news from the opening ceremony is that there is no big news. Sure, BlizzCon 2008 attendees will find Starcraft 2 beta keys in their goody bags, but there is no word yet when the beta will start. From that we now know it's going to be the next Blizzard game out, but most had guessed as much. Beyond that... there is going to be a Starcraft 2 tournament at Blizzcon 2008 and Diablo 3 is being shown in playable form at the convention floor with a new class - The Wizard - being shown for the first time (YouTube Video). None of that is truly remarkable or surprising, and that's it. Nothing major was announced. Not even a release date or release quarter for Starcraft 2! I'm not sure how many expected a big announcement - I was doubtful as Blizzard already got their plate full for the next year or so with Wrath of the Lich King, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, but still... the fact that Blizzard has almost nothing new to show is... fail. The second WoW expansion is coming soon, but for the worst WoW fanatics the obvious thing is to already look forward - "what next?". World of Warcraft Lead Designers Jeffrey Kaplan and Tom Chilton lifted the veil over some future plans at the pre-BlizzCon Blizzard Community Summit in Anaheim on Thursday. World of Raids has the all the details, but the most important bit was the confirmation that Wrath of the Lich King will have three additional major raid instances to be introduced in content patches. 3.1 -- the first major content patch of the expansion, which is already done according to Kaplan -- will release the Ulduar 10 and 25-person raid instances, with 3.2 containing that secret surprise raid instance, and 3.3 likely being the patch that introduces Icecrown Citadel. For those who haven't been keeping count, that's three additional 10- and 25-man raids in addition to the existing set of three 10- and 25-man raids lined up for the expansion launch - re-tuned Naxxramas, Chamber of Aspects and The Eye of Eternity. No timetable yet for the patches, but you could look at the Blizzard's past patch cycles for hints. Patch 2.1.0 (Black Temple) arrived four months after The Burning Crusade, 2.2.0 (Voice Chat) five months later - after some technical issues that kept the patch on PTR for a long time, 2.3.0 (Zul'Aman) two months later and finally 2.4.0 (Sunwell) four months after Zul'Aman. Based on that, I'd expect these three raid instances and the related content additions to arrive, evenly spaced, over then next 9-12 months after Wrath of the Lich King goes live. That leaves plenty of room for a content patch or two before it's again time to ponder about an expansion. The fact that Icecrown Citadel, the de-facto "final battle" of the expansion is scheduled only for the third patch after expansion is somewhat surprising - many expected it to arrive sooner. On the other hand, it is a response to those who complained after they killed Illidan, the "big boss" of The Burning Crusade (introduced in 2.1.0, the first content patch of the first expansion) over an year before the next expansion. This time the story is more stretched out, which is a good thing in my books. Wrapping things up tonight, Volition has released a new cinematic trailer for their upcoming open-world Action title, Saints Row 2. Clocking in at just under two minutes long, the video features a short storyline setup and some action-packed cutscenes.
