Ghostbusters PC System Requirements - No Multiplayer

The PC version of Ghostbusters is coming next week and we have the system requirements. While the PS3 and Xbox 360 boxes boast multiplayer features and upcoming DLC content, there is nothing like that on the PC box. Interestingly the PC version still requires Internet connection - not for multiplayer, but for authentication of the DRM system. Ghostbusters also has surprisingly high system requirements, pointing towards a direct port.

Minimum System Requirements:

  • Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 or AMD Athlon X2 3800+
  • ATI Radeon X1800-series 512MB, NVIDIA GeForce 8400 512MB
  • 2GB RAM
  • 9GB free hard disk space
  • DirectX 9.0c-compatible soundcard
  • Keyboard, Mouse or Xbox 360 Gamepad
  • Internet connection required for first-time authentication (connection not required after authentication)

Recommended System Requirements:

  • Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 or equivalent
  • 4GB RAM
  • ATI Radeon HD 4800 series, NVIDIA GTX 260 series or higher video card

Note: Dual core processors such as the Intel Pentium D805 are not supported, Video cards that have only 256MB of RAM are not supported.

Ghostbusters is due for release in North America on all platforms on June 16th. Europeans get the PS3 version on the same date while other versions are scheduled for later this year.

Thanks, Spook Central.

And they wonder why PC games get pirated? Guess I will pick up the PS3 version instead as multi looks like great fun...

Sorry, I don't follow.
What has this with to do with piracy?

Because when there is an online multiplayer element, there are authenticators in place to make sure that everyone teamed up in a game have unique CD-Keys. If you are limited to just play the single player mode, then bypassing that DRM is relatively easy for hackers, making a "hacked" version of the game available via bit torrent within a week of its release. Many people who would have gladly paid $60 for this game on the PC with Multiplayer, will now not bother to even purchase the game because they are screwing PC owners over so badly. I love how all the ads demonstrate multiplayer, but none of them say "Not available on the PC version." What a ripoff.

No mp for PC version?!..

Can anyone say "What in the @#$%@# !?"...

At least Spook Central provides a nice complete cover scan for the thousands of PC copies that are going to be pirated thanks to this PC exclusion BULLSHIT.

The game is $30 cheaper than the console versions and with the turbulance the game faced in the last year and a half, be grateful a PC version is being released at all. This is an obvious console game.

Well, I must say $30 instead of the usual $40-50 is a reasonable price - especially when compared to the $60-70 that is being charged for console games...

Except it will prolly be some steaming pile of bug ridden crap considering im sure they are spending a whole 5 minutes porting it.

I get what you're saying, but fromt he outset this was a console game and with it being nearly cancelled altogether, just be happy with a $30 crappy port (if that's the case).

I love the Resident Evil series, so I had to break down and get a Cube and RE4 when it wasn't coming to the PC anytime soon. Now I have PC, PS3, 360 and I just get what's best.

And that five minutes is the time it takes to recompile the game from the source code.

Ok that it costs less then normal is nice, but I rather pay more for something decend, then less for something that does not work right and is missing features.
But indeed, we will see from reviews how it is on the PC.

Also, RE5 is coming to the PC next month :).
RE4 on the cube was GOD, RE5 is not nearly that good, but still nice imo.

Bought this game yesterday. I'm not going to talk about the gameplay, beyond saying that it's highly entertaining, dialogue hilarious, and it looks damn nice on the PC...

It would be even nicer if the damn thing ran properly! I meed nearly the recommended requirements:

Intel Core 2 Duo 6800
Windows XP SP3
4GB Ram
Geforce 8800GT 512MB

Even with all graphical settings at minimum, the game's frame rate is all over the damn place. Especially when entering a new area or hallway... it drops to about 5fps, sometimes for 10-20 seconds. Other times it maintains a stable 30fps (this can be capped at 60 if your machine can handle it).

I'm sorry but this is just crazy. It's not an open ended game, the maps are usually confined and linear, why the hell does this thing suck my system dry? Atari did this with Neverwinter Nights 2... MASSIVE system requirements for a game that looked no better than anything else on the market, and even with a high end system, crap performance!!

I paid 29.99 for this. I wish I had paid less.

It should run perfectly on that system! I have it on a Q9450 and 8800GTX (everything else the same as you, except I have vista), and running it at high, 1920x1200 with no issues.
