NewsMicrosoft shows Nintendo a little love?Speaking for Microsoft at the current Assembly Summer event, Chad Z. Hower showed that Microsoft's software development kit, XNA, not only supports input devices for PCs and the Xbox 360 but from the "competition" too! Nintendo's Wiimote can be programmed for using the tools, which suggests that we might see some frantic hand-waving games for the PC at some point in the near future. Hower pointed this out during his seminar on XNA (".NET for the Xbox 360"):
Yes, that's the man himself in Wiimote action. A very basic PC game was used to demonstrate this but this move should be thoroughly applauded - we'd definitely like to see more controllers for the PC platform.
Correction: We previously and incorrectly stated that the speaker was Peter Green, when in fact the chap in question was Mr Chad Z Hower! An administrative error at Assembly meant that the wrong name was down in the details; we would like to sincerely apologise to Mr Green and Mr Hower for any embarrassment caused by this confusion. Update: Chad was kind enough to give some clarifications (see the forum thread linked below) about Wiimote and XNA. Wiimote support is achieved through Brian Peek's WiimoteLib library for .NET - the author himself confirmed this on our discussion board.
